TLIC3005 Drive heavy combination vehicle

HC Truck License Perth

TSDT can help you obtain your HC truck drivers license, which allows you to drive any heavy combination vehicle such as Prime movers with attached single semi-trainer and heavy vehicles with attached trailer that has a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) greater than 9,000 kg.

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO #52903), TSDT is approved to train and assess the unit of competence TLIC3005 Drive heavy combination vehicle. This course will provide the skills and knowledge required to drive a heavy combination vehicle safely, including systematic and efficient control of all vehicle functions, coupling and uncoupling of trailers, monitoring of traffic and road conditions, management of vehicle condition and performance, and effective management of hazardous situations.

If you meet the eligibility criteria and pass the eye test, you can train for a HC licence with TSDT as an authorised RTO. If you choose to do so you will be required to successfully complete the TLIC3005 Drive heavy combination vehicle course before you can sit a Department of Transport (DoT) practical driving assessment (PDA) with us.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment. This then allows you to sit a Department of Transport (DoT) practical driving assessment (PDA).

TSDT is authorised by the Department of Transport (DoT) (Provider #683) to conduct practical  driving assessments for the HR, HC and MC class licences. Therefore, enrolment into this course will enable you to complete both your training and assessment for the unit of competency and your DoT practical driving assessment on site with us.

Please note that until you have presented your Statement of Attainment, Eye Test form and Certificate of Competency at a DoT licensing centre and your licence record has then endorsed with the new class you will not be entitled to drive a vehicle of class MC. A processing fee will be charged by DoT for this service.

Eligibility:

In order to gain your HC class licence in Western Australia you must no longer be a provisional driver and have held both:

  • C Class licence for at least three years; and
  • Medium rigid (MR class) or Heavy Rigid (HR class) licence for at least one year.

It is also a Department of Transport requirement that you pass an eyesight test at the commencement of your training. If you usually wear glasses or contact lenses while driving you must be wearing these during the eyesight test.
